Why Should You Join Us
A person who possesses the following qualifications shall be eligible for membership:
- Members of groups affiliated to GROOTS KENYA movement.
- Has attained the age of 18 years.
- Is of good character and sound mind.
- Pays the membership application fee of Kshs 1000 and share capital (minimum Kshs 5000)
Admission Into Membership
All admissions into Sacco membership shall be made in accordance and fulfilling the requirements of member eligibility and not limited to:
- Every applicant shall complete a membership application form that will show all the information required for the purpose of registration of members.
- An applicant shall be admitted to membership upon payment of an application fee of Kshs 1000.
- Upon admission the members name shall be entered in the membership register.
- The member is required to pay a minimum share capital of Kshs 5000 to become a fully paid up member of the Sacco.
Rights And Obligations of Members.
Every GROOTS SACCO member has a right to:
- Attend and participate in decision making at delegates meetings of the Sacco.
- Be elected to organs of the Sacco.
- Enjoy the use of all the facilities and services of the Sacco.
- Observe and comply with all the Sacco’s laws and decisions taken by relevant authorities.
- Buy and pay up for shares or make any other regular payments provided for by the Sacco.
Cessation of Membership
Membership from the Sacco shall cease in regards to the following:
- Death of member.
- Withdrawal
- Being certified to be of unsound mind.
- Transfer of shares to another members.
- Failure to remit share contributions and loan repayments for a continuous period of six months without valid reasons or leave the society.
- Suspension of a member by the committee.
Withdrawal From The Sacco.
- A member may at any time withdraw from the society by giving at least sixty (60) days written notice to the committee.
- On cessation of membership, the member shall be refunded her/his savings and any other sums held by the society on his/ her behalf after deductions of any sum owed to the society.
- On transfer of shares to another member of the society. The transfers must be in writing to the committee. A fee of Kshs 1000 shall be payable by the transferee.
