Our Story

GROOTS Sacco Society is a grassroots women led Sacco that was registered in July 2017. The reason behind the formation of the Sacco was due to the necessity of the grassroots women who needed financial empowerment yet majority of them lacked collateral for securing loans and also the confidence of applying for loans from the banks.

To address this issue of access to financial services, GROOTS Kenya trained the women on table banking and village savings as a response to the financial challenges. Further, GROOTS Kenya saw the need to have a financial vehicle that would bring on board all the women in the movement and provide a space for women to access larger loan amounts at affordable and flexible rates.

GROOTS SACCO is currently operating in 11 counties that is Kakamega, Kiambu, Kitui, Laikipia, Nakuru, Muranga, Nyandarua, Busia, Baringo, Kilifi, and Tana River and it is currently hosted at GROOTS Kenya offices in Nairobi, Westlands.
